Oestrogen Dominant Female Disorders Treatment

Homeopathy is able to successfully treat the problems of oestrogen dominance such as endometriosis, fibroids, infertility, fibrocystic breast disease and polycystic ovarian syndrome or disorder (PCOS)

Endometriosis Treatment

Endometriosis is the growth of tissue that lines the uterus, at sites outside the uterus, usually on the lining of the abdominal cavity called the peritoneum. These tissue growths are like seeds implanted outside that undergo hormonal stimulation at the same time as the uterus itself and grow and bleed monthly.

Genetic factors, amongst others, contribute; but I find that homeopathy for oestrogen dominance and to remedy the effect of the contraceptive Pill gives good results. Endometriosis is a lead cause of infertility, and many of the homeopathic strategies outlined on the Treament of Infertility page address this condition.

Fibroids

Another symptom of oestrogen dominance and a cause of infertility, fibroids are benign growths of smooth muscle cells along with fibrous tissue from the main body of the uterus. As well as use of the oral contraceptive Pill, contributing factors such as the prevalence of oestrogenic compounds like plastics and other chemicals in the environment probably play a role.

Fibroids are named for where they are found in the uterus, but the homeopathic treatment is the same for all, and varies only with the symptom pattern in the individual case, as with all conditions . Intramural fibroids are most common; these occur in the wall of the uterus. Subserosal fibroids are under the mucosal surface and are the largest. If they grow out, they are known as pedunculated fibroids. Those that occur in the neck of the uterus are called cervical fibroids.

Homeopathic remedies that may be used to address this problem are similar for the other oestrogen dependent presentations of PCOS and endometriosis and include Thuja, Medorrhinum, Lilium tigrinum, Sabina, Helonias, Sepia (pictured) and Folliculinum.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

In polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), multiple follicles accumulate in the ovaries without ovulation occurring. Higher levels of testosterone and oestrogens secreted by the ovaries results in irregular or no menses, excess body hair growth, occasionally hair loss, and often obesity, diabetes and hypertension. As well as absence of menstruation, women can also suffer irregular (usually late) and heavy menstrual bleeding problems, endometrial hyperplasia and even endometrial cancer. A main concern of this condition is infertility due to absence of ovulation.

Homeopathic strategies for PCOS are similar to that used for endometriosis, fibroids and infertility.

Fibrocystic Breast Disease and Fibroadenoma

Fibrocystic breast disease is common. Small, firm nodules vary in size through the month, increasing before the menstrual flow. The indicated constitutional medicine, often in conjunction with homeopathic remedies like Conium, Calcarea fluoratum and Phytolacca, amongst many other remedies, will fix the problem where indicated.

Fibroadenoma: single round elastic lumps that are slippery when palpated. The same approach will help.
