Treatment of Women's Problems
Women of childbearing and rearing age represent the largest single group treated at Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic. A combination of naturopathic lifestyle and dietary approaches is combined with homeopathic medicine. As always, the woman is perceived as a whole, and her treatment approach may not differ from that of a male.
However, the menstrual and reproductive symptoms of the female patient are highly important in the choice of remedy for that person, even if her main complaint seems to be unrelated. Homeopathic understanding teaches us that a woman's menstrual cycle is the one of the most important aspect of that woman's health, and even minor disturbances can both reflect and affect the whole balance of health.
When the woman presents with specifically female problems, homeopathy has many answers. Treatment is available for all problems, from the onset of the first menses (menarche), through the reproductive years, into menopause and beyond. Irregular menses, painful and heavy periods (dysmenorrhoea and menorrhagia), premenstrual syndrome, absence of periods (amenorrhoea), infertility, problems resulting from the use of the oral contraceptive pill, endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, polycystic ovarian disorder, chlamydia, thrush (candida), gardnerella, HPV, vaginitis and hormonal irregularities, including hot flushes, mood changes and menstrual irregularities of the peri-menopause and menopause, all of which are described in detail on subsequent pages.
During the childbearing years there are many remedies to help with problems like nausea of pregnancy, miscarriages, pre-eclampsia, toxaemia of pregnancy, gestational diabetes and all the problems of childbirth including failure to progress and difficult labour, and the problems of the post-partum period such as retained placenta, perineal laceration and tears, and after-pains.
